Normal Ringtones

I’m in the minority here, but I like my celly to ring like a phone, not like MTV played through a tin can. I still think there’s a market for “phone” ringtones, but nobody’s biting. In the mean time, here are a couple links that contain a pretty decent collection of actual rings.

http://www.davidenglish.com/ringtones.html

I’m using “Old Italian Phone” from the first link and it sounds pretty decent on my Nokia 6682. It’s got that old phone sound with a little electronic-ness in there which takes the edge off, and it’s unique enough so I know it’s my phone.

Let me change your mind :)

As a Nokia 6600 owner myself, I’ve gotten quite a few complements with my custom made, classic Spottieottiedopalicious ringtone.

Try putting that tight little Nokia Synth to work too. Load up some .midi’s and you’ll be plesantly suprised. Do a quick search for DJ Jean – The Launch. ;)

I guess IM in the minority with you. While they are starting to make more phones with better quality sound. It is embarrassing to be somewhere, and all of a sudden have some corny music rolling out of my purse! I want my cell phone to ring like a normal phone. Thank you for the links for normal ring tones. ! :o)

Thanks for the links. I too would like the option of having my generic ringtone to sound normal and have my friend’s allocated ringtones be the different ones

I was so pissed when I found out my phone didn’t have a normal ringtone. I also couldn’t find one for free anywhere. I ended up making my own. You can download it from my blog at:

We just launched a site that features a variety of more ‘normal’ sounding ringtones. they aren’t recordings of traditional phone rings, but rather, sophisticated rings designed for cell phones, including text alerts business rings and some experimental tones.

Thank you so much! everyone else is supporting the meme, acting as if nobody *should* want actual ringers, by leaving them off the “ringtone downloads” websites, and not including one with so many models of phone. I can’t believe that we’re a minority, we’re just supposed to think it so that we’ll stop looking. In today’s society it’s all about money, and the “New=Good and LastWeek=Bad” myth isn’t human nature, it’s a socially accepted fallacy intended to make us spend. sorry, this message was meant as a thanks and it turned into a mini-rant.

I checked out a few of the links posted in replies… Bad Move!
“justringring” , “soundslikeaphone” , and “normalringtone” are Generic SpamSearch/ Domain Parking pages. They do not Host ANY ringtones.
RCPtones was real as far as I could tell, but I listened to each of the “samples” on their main page and none were what I was looking for. They DID have ringers that aren’t songs, but their first example ringer still sounded too much like a 90’s cell phone for me.

The best (most phone-like) tones I’ve found were from the “DavidEnglish” link at the top.

Oh, sorry but the Dence-dot-net link at the top also seems to be a generic search nonsite. (maybe it used to have a real site?)

Anyway, with all the stupid sounds and crappy tunes blaring from everything I own, it’s nice to know I won’t miss as many calls just from not realizing it’s my *phone*.
Thanks for the DavidEnglish link, it was what I needed.

Perfect! Old American is exactly the old school telephone sound I was looking for. Downloaded it to my Android via USB, went to Music, held my finger on the song, selected “use as ringtone.” Thanks.
