It's hard to predict where Western intervention will leave us. British with Cuba in the 19th Century, again with Israel in the 20th, and the U.S. with Afghanistan & Osama more recently. We do some curious stuff.

But I totally agree about the rum.

It turns out we Cubans are also at fault for Bush winning the White House. Or is it really the fault of the British? I report; you decide:

"How incredibly different history would have been had the British kept Cuba instead. No Spanish-American war (except that the Americans would have somehow "acquired" Florida much earlier than 1898), no Castro, no communism, no missile crisis, no dimpled chads, no usurper in the White House; the list goes on and on. Most importantly, the US would not have been deprived of the best rum in the world for forty-plus years. That's Havana Club. The inferior Bacardi fled to Puerto Rico after the revolution."

At first, this group seemed pretty benign to me, but then, lo and behold, I noticed two of the most menacing political hacks ever are also members, namely Pinky and The Brain!

I've read this before and it is indeed scary stuff. It's often been
refered to in the papers over here and it also pops up in the 9/11
truth sites because of this particular passage taken from "Rebuilding
America's Defenses"

"Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings
revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some
catastrophic and catalyzing event – like a new Pearl Harbor."

Here is also a good article taken from one the more heavy weight English papers.

Let me quote part of a post I made elsewhere on the internet ...

QUOTE

Just look at Bush et all and all the things they HAVE actually been
guilty of so far during there administration.

- Illegal war based around what is most likely to be faked intelligence.

- Running up trillions of dollars of debt, the money of with has often
falling into the hands of their corporate bedfellows (E.g.
Halliburton).

- Unconstitutional and internationally illegal activities such as,
detention with out trial, torture and wire tapping. (Nixon each your
heart out).

- Gross mis-management of Katrina and couldn't give a fuck attitude
for regular Americans.

Do I need to go on?

So what you have to ask yourself, is the explanation purely that a
group of people (Bush, Cheney, Rumsfield, etc) have managed to rise to
be among the world's most powerful people (some of them for a SECOND
time) are just that utterly incompetent? And if they aren't just
incompetent, then exactly what are they capable of? They don't seem to
concerned about sending over a thousand U.S. troops to their grave in
an aggressive invasion of another sovereign based country on a false
pretext. And they didn't seem to concerned about the plight of
thousands upon thousands of people affected by Katrina."

/QUOTE

My view is that it's not just good enough to wait for Bush's second
term to finish and vote them out. This idiot needs to be impeached
asap and all his cronies made to answer some serious questions. I just
hope you folks over there can do something about it.

Here is an article that was recently published in Vanity Fair that
suggests to me that the political will in the US to get rid of Bush on
both sides of the house is on the rise.

And also, check out this, absolutely HILARIOUS video of Bush getting a roasting

http://www.alternet.org/mediaculture/35674/

"A blistering comedy "tribute" to President Bush by Comedy Central's
faux talk-show host Stephen Colbert at the White House Correspondent
Dinner Saturday night left George and Laura Bush unsmiling at its
close."
