About
This site is the handiwork of Chris Bredesen (Breddy is a nickname from college), a thirty-something South Florida native and veteran technophile (geek). Chris doesn’t like referring to himself in the third person, so he reckons that will change in the next paragraph. Until then, you might want to know that Chris is also a Java architect and software development manager with expertise in e-commerce web development using a variety of open source tools and platforms.
Ah, much better — now I can talk about myself a bit. Yes I’m a veteran geek but that started back when Java was an island, not a programming language. You might say I was a geek even before I admitted it to myself. I’m interested in anything that you can plug in or connect. This includes (but is not limited to) computers, hi-fi, home theater, gadgets and the like. I’m the guy who has to fix the family computers. I’m also the guy to whom everyone sends the witty IT emails over and over and over and over. You get the idea.
My adult life has been pretty much occupied by IT work of some description, most recently enterprise software development (since about 2001). I’ve worked with a lot of good people in a few good shops and even fewer good companies. With regard to careers in technology, I’ve been happiest doing systems architecture. I can get involved with the business while still having the opportunity to create and innovate.
If you take time to peruse this site a little, you’ll also find random musings on cars, marriage and politics. I leave my post comments open because I truly enjoy fostering civilized discussion - something lacking from many corners of the net. If you have questions for me or simply want to drop me a line, you can use “chris” at this domain.
Thanks for stopping by!
